from love that lived in blood,
in the eyes and nostrils, in

so real it cannot be denied
how did I get this fortunate
how did a mere man follow
serpentine water to find hidden joy
one normally only reads about
in cheap paperbacks found on benches
in grassy parks of the mind, stolen

in dreams of the counterculture of the soul
burning with the liberation of love agape
children born in that moment nurtured
in wonder of the unimageable
proud as parental peacock's instinct
to display all he has to offer the world
tell me,... How does such a bird know its power
