I've been recording mine today. My first take was way too fast - like I was playing a tenor sax solo in my head. It was also way too loud - the mics were cranked all the way up for capturing bird calls. So I had to make a few level checks before I got the volume down to about the same as yours. I also stumble, trip over words, inhale at the wrong time, and generally have a lot of false starts, all of which will have to be edited out. I've got to take a break for PT and to check the dryness of the laundry on the line, but I'm getting there!

Re-the thigh slaps - they were loudest & most intrusive at the beginning, but as you got into the rhythm, became nearly unnoticeable by the end. Any musical accompaniment I add will mask them further, so if I take your lines from the 2nd half of the poem, there shouldn't be a problem.

Just for laughs, here's a snippet from one of my level checks:

Oh, I forgot to add - if any of you other contributors have a particular preference for your rendering of a particular group of lines, don't hesitate to let me know which, and I'll give them priority.

okay. Love your wonderful masculine, country style rendering.
well done

I can’t figure out how to record on my phone. I’m telling you, this getting old shit is challenging! Lol ... I might figure it out. I might not... gonna try googling it . Also, this poem is a tongue twister! Not easy to recite! Lol.

Startin' to look like a duet with you & me, judih - I'll start working out how to interleave our lines, so in case someone does decide to join in, we can hit the ground running.

Progress!

I'm about midway through the narration assembly process, and it seems to be coming together nicely, so I felt justified in pouring myself a Stella. I wanted to start off with you, but your metronome was a tad obtrusive - so I took lines 1-6, and crossfade to you for lines 6-12. Here the beats are still audible, but less so - and I've cut out those that occur in the pauses between words. I expect music will be in the background, so those that happen while you're speaking will be further masked. I'll take over for lines 12-18, then hand it off to you for the finish.

This is fun!

I've also collected images from some of our visual artists - Doreen, Steve, Cecil - and WireMan, of course. (If I need filler, I'll throw in a bit of my experimental photograpy). Once the audio's done - possibly later today - I'll create a video presentation to go with it. I'll post it to YouTube as Unlisted, so only those of us with the URL can view it - it won't show up in searches. (This is for our privacy - I can always change its settings to Public, if that's what we want.)

Piss break, then back to work.....

Wow. Sounds masterful. Thanks for taking this on, Roy. Choice of artwork is wonderful.
I hope that Cecil takes all this as highest compliment to the work. Thank you, Cecil

Audio is DONE. Resizing & annotating images - but I'm losing focus & starting to make mistakes, so I'm calling it a day. I hope to wrap this up tomorrow and have something to show by no later than Tue morn....

Well, I had some problems with aspect ratio & color bleeding, and YouTube harrumphed and tut-tutted about my use of copyrighted music, but let me upload it after issuing a stern warning that it may be blocked if made public, and I won't be able to monetize it regardless. Assholes.

ANYWAY - here 'tis, unlisted but residing at https://youtu.be/bH78dJYg-gI

Really nice Roy....I'm impressed...you have skills I know nothing about.....this was truly a labor of love.....is there a place we can put his to be easily accessed rather than in the thread of a poem.....Once again, You made excellent choices in weaving the components into a quilt....a nice collective tribute
