five loons on the lake,
first time they've been here....
a jetliner moves in slow motion
across a distant space of time and mind
the air is crisp like fall
but it's the first day of May
a second plane follows the same route
and I become aware there is still a sense of order
just because I choose to dream doesn't mean
others aren't traveling the continent like sea gulls
smiling down on me, perhaps they know
that I am not a threat
the trees above the roof bend at the waist
like lithe dancers and there are rainbow colors
lining the rim of a hole in the sky, it just sits there
above me, for three seconds, then closes
like a winked eye
a day in the life of the world
a day in the life of the world
If you do not change your direction
you may end up where you are heading
you may end up where you are heading
Re: a day in the life of the world
I tried to stare down the cloud
but I blinked first to her amusement
so I locked my pupils on a dark wavy ridge,
begged the sky to give me the score
I felt the slow artistic power of nimbus
as a church bell rang in the distance
from a place in the woods... this ancient soundtrack
from the big bang sent musical notes
that drifted across the blue canvas
to that candy apple red blush in my heart
but I blinked first to her amusement

begged the sky to give me the score
