most of my early days
looking
for something never sure
what...
that relentless hunt
pushing thru the bamboo forest
running the straw maze
I can hear Jackson Browne's words
about a happy idiot
and maybe I was that pretender
tip-toeing into the night
into the beckoning quagmire
a B movie actor sinking to his neck
only to grab a vine, a scrawny wannabe tarzan
pulling himself out only to jump in again
as if I'd never seen a swamp before....
all I really know is
quicksand and blindness
were very fond of me
quicksand and blindness
quicksand and blindness

Re: quicksand and blindness
I was a seeker as well
Tree hugging pothead
I was always impressed with the unsure
Paths I had to choose
Which way
I had to learn to ask people what they had done
I have been to the alai Kai swamp on kauai
Kids had a school field trip
Primordial ooze on the wettest spot on the earth- mount wai Ali Ali
At any rate
I’m going with ebb and flow
Jackson brown
That’s awesome
I never tip toe
My feet are too big
But sometimes in this pandemic
I feel so like I’m caught in an undertow
Sand I’m drowning
Tree hugging pothead
I was always impressed with the unsure
Paths I had to choose
Which way
I had to learn to ask people what they had done

reason is over rated, as is logic and common sense-i much prefer the passions of a crazy old woman, cats and dogs and jungle foliage- tropic rain-and a defined sense of who brings the stars up at night and the sun up in the morning---
