one day all the birds leave
the nest of borrowed sticks with flight
or fall, when the pivotal moment emerges
like the head of a baby crocus
poking his purple crown
from the chilly spring soil
the avian respiratory system like no other

perfect fliers have lungs that neither expand nor contract

all the ships set sail one day when the warm winds
blow from the cove to fill up the mainsails
this has been going on since the sixth millennium
when the reed boats sailed upstream against the currents
of the mighty river Nile and the laws of momentum mirrored oxygen
to act upon the natures of man's desire to reach the horizon

sitting out there on the edge of time......evolutionary steps of the species

flesh and blood cannot sit still
stagnation is as rare as albino racoons or polka dot gorillas
air in the sails
air in the lungs
it's all the same you know
singing, dancing, flying, sailing

more notes from the mind
soothed by Catoctin rye
journal entries, misty photographs
tall, rather straight hardwoods
evergreen saplings shaking in a storm
a family of deer, baby fawn trying
to keep up,. across the ridge my mind darts
with her

no sun today, droplets on my hood, shoulders....
of no concern, walking in the rain
sensual as it gets
fast moving streams make me think of Norway
here the silica mines create the best sand around
picked out my trail for tomorrow
but first the overlook
where one can stand in one state and see 2 more

convergence in america is a beautiful thing

all these words from scribbles in the woods
sitting on logs, and porches, a few big rocks
alone with my thoughts
sometimes those thoughts see the light of day
other times they hide away on pads
in boxes
in a closet
waiting, waiting, waiting

waiting, waiting, waiting
limping winded cataracts in both my eyes

grateful I got to fly, sail, drive a Porsche and Truck

these days I still hope to learn to dance
thanks for the poetry 8)
