Why the West Has So Many Places Named Last Chance

Head out, I mean way out there
in the scrub, snakes, nude rock,
mostly named Last Chance.
Last Chance Canyon.
Last Chance Ranch.
Last Chance Mine.

It had to be out there,
the right valley, right stream,
right spring to water the herd,
the right vein to mine wealth,
extract it from nude rock.
Maybe it's still out there.

pretty ominous
life can be awfully tough
and I'm sure a lot of folks died
just trying to stay alive
the unforgiving nature of places
and the unforgiven
as portrayed by Clint Eastwood....
