Grand Speculator ( killin' the blues )

rain coming straight down
hard, without a bit of slant to it,
i guess you could say it is water without bias,
the flower box explodes
pink n purple petunias
the electricity died thirty minutes ago
a few neighbors poke their heads out,
the contractors remodeling 3408 packed up...
it's either an early lunch or damn good excuse
to head to the bar....call it a day

rockin' in an old rockin' chair
pen and pad at hand
glass of filtered water nearby
I stare at my old feet, beaten up and swollen
by the abuse of seven plus decades
hard-ass livin...' and that brings me to here, this moment
an old man killin' the blues in a rainstorm
studying a pair of old ass feet
documenting for some reason
an uneventful moment in an old
ass life, carefully recording every thought...
by pushing an old ass pen across a beat up pad,
and calling it a goddamn poem
