It goes upside down
Dyslexic messages from the spirit world

Unable to breathe
She stops smoking

In the middle of the night
It’s raining she hears
“There are cigarettes in the ceramic thing”

She is fondling wet tobacco in the middle of the night
Did not have the power to smoke them

There was a cook in a small cafe
Long time ago in Lake Tahoe California
Her hair had nicotine brown across where the smoke
Met her forehead: she liked her coffee cold

I was a young aspiring waitress
A hotel maid for free skiing
A thumbtack fell into ice cream I served an old woman one day
poured coffee on someone’s hand
That career sucked : cocktail waitress was better but sleep is a sad story

And then… it was of a cyclone of good vibes
Whirled around memory - she resisted
Was there a catch?
Is this love or something like this- like a fish with a hook
Down her throat
The man with the beautiful hair
Wings spread she flies
Funny how much you are doing today

up verses down
in and out
reality and memory
where is the horizon
dunno
I'm doin' my best
I often think
so that must be good enough
