the dwindling days of summer

Post by saw » October 13th, 2021, 10:22 am

the sun creeps over the fence
bathes my legs in warm ambient light,
all too soon it will be too hot
to just sit here scribbling the contents
of wayward notions that may or may not
morph into poetic creatures that sing and dance

there is a red stain on my heart this afternoon
a melancholy from the space between love and loss
so I will try to give it some wings to fly, with my black ink
that seems to be a bit of an oxymoron for hope...in that
I can imagine that it can fly on its own, as a sparrow
unafraid of me zooms down from a suspended cable just a few feet
from my lawn-chair........he pecks at my heartstrings like seeds

he seems like he needs a friend too
so we do our thing in the company of each other
with similar purposes perhaps, or not
it doesn't matter
in the end we are both trying
to have a nice day
going through the motions perhaps,
chakras wide open for inspiration

clarity
If you do not change your direction
you may end up where you are heading
