better than before

Post by saw » December 22nd, 2021, 4:47 pm

I melt into the brushstroke
hand as steady as an old man can be
eyes locked, see the implement follow
the pencil lines like a stalker
stealthily, right on top of the sketch
and the page begins to come alive,
patience is a virtuous endeavor , but
the slightest distraction
and you are outside the lines, and a "good "
painter is one that knows how to blend errors
into moments of brilliance, the unplanned eruption
how to re-create when hand and brain and eyes
do not sync up on the first try, he takes a deep breath
surveys the possibilities, considers
a new strategy........Ahh !........Better than before.....
If you do not change your direction
you may end up where you are heading

“He put my mind and my hand and my eye together, in a way that allowed me to do consciously what I unconsciously felt"

While he was writing the songs for “Blood on the Tracks,” Dylan had taken up painting classes with the New York artist Norman Raeben. By all accounts, Raeben was a taskmaster, but he imparted in his students a sense both that life itself was the art, with their creations being merely the by-product of that experience, and, significantly for Dylan, that past, present, and future could all coexist in their work. “He put my mind and my hand and my eye together, in a way that allowed me to do consciously what I unconsciously felt,” Dylan told Rolling Stone in 1978, of Raeben’s influence on his songwriting approach.

Dylan s artwork and sculpture is represented by halcyon gallery
reason is over rated, as is logic and common sense-i much prefer the passions of a crazy old woman, cats and dogs and jungle foliage- tropic rain-and a defined sense of who brings the stars up at night and the sun up in the morning---
