a visit from saint nick

Post by sasha » December 26th, 2021, 1:20 pm

christmas morn
sleet
freezing drizzle
the walkway outside is a death trap
for three-legged beasts like me
so I hunker down
happily alone
undressed in robe & slippers
the brandenburg concertos
a pot of black coffee
a handful of crosswords
and a hash pipe...
then...
a knock on the door
neighbors
the ones who fixed my car
"merry christmas!"
and he hands me a neatly rolled joint
"come on in!" I say
"let's light this bad boy up!"
but they decline
they must face the roads
so instead we sit a spell
we pass the time
talking
sharing thoughts
laughing
until it's time for them to leave
I am not sad when they do
but I feel a little fuller
a little more whole
and I set the joint aside
for another time
.

Sweet. Love some parts of Christmas
Still not sure about leaving cookies for Santa- but maybe - he has the munchies.. happy new year!
reason is over rated, as is logic and common sense-i much prefer the passions of a crazy old woman, cats and dogs and jungle foliage- tropic rain-and a defined sense of who brings the stars up at night and the sun up in the morning---
