Guest Poet, Lami Halperin "Words"

Lami is a brilliant and wild radical who came to Israel to live on a kibbutz. Now in her upper 80s, she's been publishing poetry in English and Hebrew (I'm in awe of those who have learned the language sufficiently to create publishable poetry) for years. She's released many volumes of books, but she's also a painter. With such a skillset, I figured that I'd bring one of her latest poems here to the Studio. Any comments will be happily sent to her!

Words, Lami Halperin

Soft fell the fog on garden walls
Soft fell the fog on rows of trees
Soft fell the fog

Rain spotted sidewalks
Gave drink to daisies
Just water coming down

The sun was everywhere
Yellowed my thoughts
Brightened leaves

Night now
The moon radiates
My ink is black

(Bad grammar?
How can words be bad?
Words are the best things in life) RSVP Lami

she shows us there is real power in simple unvarnished expression
the brevity speaks volumes

we all cross paths
hope for the best
as what is else
sun shine tree grow
hope cannot ever die
we are infinite in our love
help me grow
i beg
make my island a continent

bombs shall drop
but the truth stays constant
love may not always be shown
but its basis rules
may we please all go back
to kindergarten

Sonofthesun...I hope it's not too late as humanity to learn to share and to have time to play...indeed...

The time is always now Arcadia. The beauty unfolds constant. It's never too late. As the water eats rock, we can change, we can do better. And we can have fun. Love and understanding aint such a bad thing.
