Guns don't kill people - deranged souls with unlimited access to military hardware kill people - lots and lots of people. If it weren't for thoughts & prayers, this would be unacceptable.

Yes, "thoughts and prayers" and various crass cliches and even jokes. They will address our collective well-armed mass suicide, won't they? Five or six years ago my coworkers looked at me funny when I expressed a slight wariness about walking through the mall to get lunch. Now, people are being shot up in malls. Yes, we're making America Great Again, aren't we?

You got my vote, Doreen. America unquestionably has greatness and majesty, and I've taken the time to write about it here and there, but the gun industry and lobby has done a serious number on us. Hard to believe, actually.

To say nothing of the American Taliban, religious fundamentalists Heaven-bent on turning us into a theocratic dictatorship. Oh, we're free to live our lives without interference - provided we don't seek any medical procedures they disapprove of. Or consume substances they disapprove of. Or choose a life partner they disapprove of, or check out library materials they disapprove of. Come to think of it, we're free to live our lives any way we like, as long it abides by their principles. Sieg Heil, Amen!

No kidding. If we keep voting these people into power, they'll keep abusing it. We walked right into this trap.

Time will tell. GOP may not be out of the woods yet. They're imposing decidedly minority rule on the majority. This Roe reversal is a pretty big deal. People might actually start to wake up.

Then again, maybe not, and we just keep sliding closer to Idiocracy ... If that sounds harsh, well, sorry, but these are our basic freedoms that we're talking about.
