in a dream I asked you
what was your favorite decade....
she replied, I don't remember anything
significant, but I knew the answer
that's because
she was too caught up in the cyclone
that was her,
another Dorothy but with an ego
the size of Kansas
and it may sound bitter
might even taste that way
but it was just a silly dream
and dreams may be a way to set things
straight, or they may be folly
but this felt so real
it awakened me...
never met anyone so in love
with themselves as to miss all that took place
in their entire life
with only a fantasy star in a Hollywood mind
to cherish
talk about an American Dream
talk about American Exceptionalism
talk about the vortex that swept you in
and spit you out
this may sound bitter
this may even taste that way
but as I said, it was
only a silly dream
bitterness would mean someone was harmed
it ain't like that, but the mind has a way
of recording the past
and this is a story that bears mention
silly dreams
silly dreams
If you do not change your direction
you may end up where you are heading
you may end up where you are heading
Re: silly dreams
yeah... I've been taking stock too - must be something we do after mortality becomes Real, & not Abstract... the insecurities, the self-deceptions, the ones that got away, they've stuck around long after the fact... Real life, not some drama downloaded from a streaming service. It's who we are - sacks of meat with a conscience..... (sorry, the edibles seem to have kicked in...)

Re: silly dreams
I love the piece
It speaks to me of perspectives that I have had to endure
Yet in a stained glass window kind of way

reason is over rated, as is logic and common sense-i much prefer the passions of a crazy old woman, cats and dogs and jungle foliage- tropic rain-and a defined sense of who brings the stars up at night and the sun up in the morning---
