drunk from her moonshine eyes
I longed for her company, and slowly
we each found time and excuses
to wind up at the same place
at the same time
I was looking down the hill
across the street
from the art museum
into the dell at Wyman Park,
the rock music was ascending
as this stunning blue-eyed woman
came from behind me and actually
whispered in my ear, " You goin' down ?"
and that moment holds a place
no one else can ever hold, the most
thrilling introduction ever.....
1988.......and by '92 we walked
in opposite directions, we were
both unsettled in our own strange ways
I wrote a song about her when we were
together, and it lived in my guitar case
for many years
yellow and brown coffee-stained
and I sang it a couple of times
after the fact, but then one day
I balled it up
and gave it a pensive toss
into a nearby can............
it was time to move on
moonshine eyes
moonshine eyes
If you do not change your direction
you may end up where you are heading
you may end up where you are heading
Re: moonshine eyes
first saw her in the corridors of my workplace
escorted by suits and ties
couldn't take my eyes off her
long auburn hair
confident stride
(and a rear end to die for)
but in the company of power
obviously above my station
just a glorious comet
flashing by overhead...
until...
I was assigned to be her tech writer
and the chemistry was immediate
but man...
18 years between us
if she hadn't taken the initiative
I wouldn't have dared
I mean
what could this goddess
this huntress of the boardroom
see in an aging low-level tech?
so I wrote for her
and not just Operational Qualification reports
but poetry
and so we spiraled together
into each other's arms
and beds......
