George Harrison wrote that poem
and Eric Clapton is a guitar God.
Leave it at that.
Leave it at that.
Politics, poly ticks.
Blood suckers.
What happened?
This god, that god.
What happened?

what happened when where why
My father's war
John Dos Passos USA
Mr. Wilson's war
In the forties I used to cry when the old news reels of the Battle Of Verdun would play at the Saturday matinee.
Red Emma died for our sins.
Drift away
give me the beat boys I want to get lost
ghosts surrounded by ghosts of the twentieth century as the universe expands faster and faster

can't help to wonder what it was like to stand in the crowds cheering Woodrow Wilson in 1917

or stand in the crowd cheering shitler in 1929.
no Sinclair Lewis was right it could not happen here
Too much reading history from Herodotus to now.
Especially World War The Great One
Got a bookshelf full of that one. As bad as it got in 1917 is how I feel 105 years later, maybe worse
Thanks for writing your work is cathartic for me 8)

“bad history yields bad politics.” ... “the idea of history as an evidentiary grab bag” for people “to articulate their political positions.”
Is History History?
'Blessed is he who was not born, Or he, who having been born, has died. But as for us who live, woe unto us, Because we see the afflictions of Zion, And what has befallen Jerusalem." gypsyjoker

When I was a bum, on the road for all those months and years, I could pretend I was on the road to Zion. The very road. It was out there, just waiting. Sometimes I played roots reggae, songs of Zion. Oh, I was awful, I had no right to those lyrics.
it could not happen here...
Except it is. And I never saw it coming. That's on me.

That's that
there is that
that shock of fear that I get when I can see where I am at
that dark time, the eye begins to see,
if Vonnegut needed one valid thing to prove G d. exists it was music.
pardon my punct.

the music never stopped
makes me want to dance
all night
every chance

Music has become very hit and miss with me. I go through long quiet periods. But when it hits me, it really hits ...

Since this is (kind of) a music thread, I'll throw in the first line of Spirits in the Material World by the Police...
"There is no political solution."
