he said, she said

time wrinkles your cloth memories
recollections shimmer and bang sometimes
as the view bends from the tip of your nose
around the reality of your old perceptions

measuring sticks snap like dried kindling
when you try to apply them to qualify the size of yesterday

did that really happen ?.....does it matter ?
navigating the straights of history takes a flexible soul
and perhaps a tempering of kindness....and forgiveness
and a watchful eye for Lorelei and the rocks

they tell me my heart is a muscle
well, I hope it has the strength to push open some of those heavy doors

he said, she said
why do I go there
regrets ?
which life are we talking about ?
If you do not change your direction
you may end up where you are heading

Excellent. I think about this sort of thing all the time. History is baffling.
