I Am Too Negative About Humanity's Future

Post by mnaz » August 3rd, 2023, 3:01 am

In the seventies the
Godfather films came out
not as gay, but twisted with
a sort of honor that no one
would ever question.

I asked Mom about
those 1930s gangsters.
I assumed she'd say they
didn't exist in the seventies
that seemed so modern.

No such luck, people suck.
They sucked for centuries
at the teat of family, and if
you need more ammo, so be it,
or hydrogen bombs, so be it.

The Family is important.

as more heartless billionaires emerge
it's easy to get depressed
musk, bezos, etc
bezos could pay all of his employees
a really great salary with badass benefits
and still be a multi billionaire
but none of them do that
it's a signal that to be the richest people
on the planet that is dying, means more to them
so much healing could occur with their generosity
but it seems it is a contest to be the most unconcerned
a game billionaires play for fun
If you do not change your direction
you may end up where you are heading

BIll Shatner
flew to the edge of space
on Blue Origin
Jeff Bezos' uber Uber -
and Captain Kirk was moved to tears
100 km up
atop the thin blue skin of air
huddled against the infinite black of space
nearly inarticulate
struggling for the words
that would give voice
to the star fires ignited within him
fires of Revelation
of the vastness of where we are
and how small we are -
meanwhile Bezos
and his beautiful companions
chuckling in condescension
ignored him
high-fiving instead
and bathing in champagne
(no doubt a fine vintage)
after all, just another day in a billionaire's life
just another lark
another photo op
another video
because you can't have too many likes & subscribers

Re: The AntiChrist

I'm the AntiChrist (too often), when I'm not Christ-like, when I don't even try. I mean, we could short circuit volumes of useless bullshit and cut to the chase, finally admit that to be Christian means to be Christ-like, but it's hard to imagine that actually happening these days.
God is on our side and Jesus wears a Rolex™
Christian nationalists’ acceptance of President Trump’s spectacular turpitude these past four years was a good measure of just how dire they think our situation is. Even a corrupt sociopath was better, in their eyes, than the horrifying freedom that religious moderates and liberals, along with the many Americans who don’t happen to be religious, offer the world.

That this neo-medieval vision is incompatible with constitutional democracy is clear. But in case you’re in doubt, consider where some of the most militant and coordinated support for Mr. Trump’s postelection assault on the American constitutional system has come from. The Conservative Action Project, a group associated with the Council for National Policy, which serves as a networking organization for America’s religious and economic right-wing elite, made its position clear in a statement issued a week before the insurrection.
In multiple speeches, an interview and a widely shared article for Christianity Today, Mr. Hawley has explained that the blame for society’s ills traces all the way back to Pelagius — a British-born monk who lived 17 centuries ago.

I am going to save my bottles to build a sailboat. My preferred method of suicide would be by sailboat. Just sail off into the sunrise like Captain Joshua Slocum

Yes
reason is over rated, as is logic and common sense-i much prefer the passions of a crazy old woman, cats and dogs and jungle foliage- tropic rain-and a defined sense of who brings the stars up at night and the sun up in the morning---
