without your voice we couldn't climb
without your being the sky would stay black
in the morning, so stick around for awhile
please satisfy my selfish cries.....
find a path back to the folks waiting
with open arms and hearts of love
we believe we will see you again
in your physical form, long flowing
gray curls cascading down on our souls
with wild stories from beyond our imagination
with your soulmate's accompaniment on mellow horn

why?
why her?
cannot the darkness
sense Other from its own?
cannot those blind with rage
realize that blindness impairs?
are kindness and generosity
acceptance and love
weaknesses to be exploited?
or so alien as to be feared?
is she just a 2nd-hand commodity
to be traded for another?
is that all she is?
is this what we've become?
is this who we are?
it seems as if
some who seek our humanity
have lost sight of their own....
