My mantra

I can’t resurrect the dead unfortunately.
My sister comes to me in bundled faerie lights
on my balcony. I’m so grateful she sends her energy
to light my night

but I kept saying I don’t know what to do
I don’t know what to do over and over and it
hasn’t done any good

Months of crying, lost like a vagabond,
Paralyzed in my bed saying I don’t know what to do
and doing nothing because of it, I guess

I’m not dead yet but maybe I’ve been dying right along
with her for three years.

I didn’t know what to do.
Parkinson’s is an ugly existence. She wasn’t
the brilliant woman she was for 72 years any more.
She was dead before she died and i tried
my best to help but I didn’t know what to do
to heal her so I said I don’t know what to do
I don’t know what to do
I don’t know what to do

She’s gone but I’ve been dying too.
I can’t get out of bed so

I changed my mantra from
I don’t know what to do to
I know what to do
Now I’m going to do something that
gives me life again
In her honor!
