offer a temporary sanctuary
for old trailblazers whose path is blocked by hateful erosion

and offer a neural escape, a backdoor
from the encroaching neo-prison being imposed by men
with fake tans and real nazi salutes and sheep wearing maga-hats
she can halt the advance of the stormtroopers of destruction
with her lilting progressions of lyrical nirvana

she can bathe you in a bubble bath of reprieve
cancel the punishment for breathing
and melt away the stark osmosis of fox news,
maybe music can't save us
but she'll give it a damn good try
