Intrusion

When he is inside me
he is nothing
seeing everything
wanting anything
needing something

he wanders
the halls of the universe
shoes clicking bare floor
echoing-
he calls out my name
in to emptiness

we have no windows here.

As I quickly grab the hand
of the little girl
who walks in my bare feet
I whisper quietly

leave your things
we won't need them

hurry now...
we have to get out of here

Hi Dixie! Welcome to the Studio!

This is an awesome piece!

I love this

"he wanders
the halls of the universe
shoes clicking bare floor
echoing- "

and

"we have no windows here."
..... Killer line...

and

"the little girl
who walks in my bare feet"

excellent.... the whole thing is darn good!

Glad to see you around these parts.... looking forward to reading more of your poetry! I don't think I've read you in 4 years or so.

LR, thanks for the read. Yes, it's a story indeed; trying to capture the element of a woman stuck in an abusive relationship. Maybe she relates this back to her childhood...and her only defense is to tune out.

Doreen, thank you for the warm welcome. I have missed reading you also. I'm really glad to be here.
