Crafting the pharoah's barge,
papyrus reeds
between
each seam,
the ride to heaven
will be a
long one,
these cats may dress funny,
but they've
got class & are
definitely waxed.

Not the waters of a miracle canal
Not the warfare of automatonic guards
Not the wrinkled apoplexied dunes
But fascination: gravel on the Suez banks
Not the former floods today so well constrained
Not the former blood today so washed away
Not the former claim today so Eden-lost
But fascination: ferry on the Nile across
Not the building of the pharaohs’ mythic barge
Not the native reeds conformed by builders’ hands
Not the long night voyage on the waters there
But fascination: largest red disc Eastern Sun
