A skitzo skips TOWN

I lived up in an old shack in the woods for a couple of weeks. Queens land off the side of the highway about an hour and a half walk from Down town Halifax. A comfortable shanty warm not too many bugs. Had friends brought me food. I had just had a break down of sorts.

I spent time shooting things with a bow I made with twigs and shit. It was great! I killed a squirrel one day. I became paranoid that the rest of the squirrels would become angry I became increasingly anxious and had to leave.

I sought refuge at Rex's apartment. Standing at the door in MC hammer pants was rex with his pipe and dull blue eyes and trademark scraggily dirty blond hair. He let me in on the conditions that I would hold no parties and would not drink.. I reluctantly agreed.

The first night I stayed up in rex's living room and watched some David Lynch movies drinking coffee in writing poems and attempting several short stories. Originality for me is tragically allusive.

In the morning I decided to go look for a job. I had been living in the bush for six weeks and smelled like shit. So I took a shower and took some of Rex's clothing. I knew he would not mind. The last timeI saw him wear the stuff I borrowed was as his fathers funeral. A black suit. I looked at myself in the mirror I had dark circles under my eyes. Blood shot whites around my dead puple black.

Rex had left a note:

"Geoff it's good to see you. Everyone was worried. Here is five bucks for whatever. I am at work."

I took the five bucks and turned over the note and wrote back:

"thanks fucker"

I thought he'd like that. He'd find that funny.

I neglected calling my parents to avoid lectures about rabies and the dangers of living in shacks in the woods in the middle of attume. I went to my brother's house. We're Identical twins. I had sex with my brother's girl friend because my brother was out of town and she did not know the difference and then I drank most of the beer in the house. Sandra my brother's girl and I watched some movie she liked with Ewan Magregor in it. She exclaimed a couple of times how cute he was. I just patted her on the head and went to the fridge and slipped 4 beers into the pockets of Rex' dead father's suit jacket. I left. Sandra wanted to know where I WAS GOING (but I am not the "I" that she thought I was) ... I did not speak. My brother is mute, and I did not want to give myself away.

The crack head came up and asked me for some change. Everyone in Halifax knew this crack head. With his glazed fried eyed look. I gave him a beer and continued down to the library and sat in it and read some book in the basement. the basement walls I hated which were covered with inspirational pictures of docks and captions that read underneath "success is a journey not a destination."

I left the library and walked out into the grey windy day and look out at Winston Churchill and his hand behind his back walk that is in front of the Halifax Library for some fucking reason. A bum I HAD NOPT SEEN BEFORE was sitting on a bench and I walked up and asked him if he rode the rails..

The bum had cuts all over his face and eyes of a crack head mother of four juvenile delinquents and a pimp father."FUCK OFF!!" he yelled and threw a thousand dollars at me in 50's. I picked them up and skipped town.

this story touched me in my balls.
and knowing i'm so eager to fight cant make letting me in any easier.

Liked this one a lot.

Loved the ending. Great stuff.
