Pities Song
Posted: February 21st, 2006, 1:21 pm
Fourty going on four
the tot has a lot to learn
The woman too much to learn
And it's out before it gets in.
The tot plays and plays
Getting into trouble
The woman getting him out of it
Sometimes it's the
Other way around.
Oh to be thirteen going on fourty
Thinking you know it all,
All the while not
Knowing a damn thing
And oblibious to the fact.
So much to learn about
Life, love, obligations.
How this woman wants to go back
Back to when make-up
and boys
Were more important.
What of the pre-teen
Wants to learn, but can't.
Something like a woman
At the same nothing alike.
She struggles to fit in
Much like a woman.
No matter where I am
Or where I've been
I fall short
Stuck somewhere
Between then and now
Here and there;
What I want and
What I have.
What I need
And what I get.
Yes we all have pity songs
The tot- too young to know
The pre-teen too young to start
The teen too old for herself
and the woman
To old to forget
and yet everyday
forgets a little more
of what she just learned;
Yesterday, today and
Probly tomorrow.
