Lady Luck

Post by mousey1 » April 1st, 2006, 2:22 pm

The sad-eyed beggar
never said a word as he lay curled
in the street
sunken disaster of a man

He must have been asleep
when Lady Luck swanned by
swinging her arms
clicking her heels
wearing her best
not five and dime
woman who has everything
appeal

And as luck would have it
(mine, not hers)
damned if she didn't trip
reel forward
land in a rumpled mass
at the old beggar's feet

I smiled
as her face splat-smashed concrete

She looked a regal heap
lying there
gorgeous, diaphanous gown
piled in delicate folds all around

I smiled again
it appears even Lady Luck
has her
bad days
I used to walk with my head in the clouds but I kept getting struck by lightning!
Now my head twitches and I drool alot. Anonymouse

A happy thing when lady luck trips up and you win.

This one brought a smile to my face. Thank you.

love lots

Fortuna's wheel
like eighteen hammers
singing home sweet home
The old bum sitting on the curb
His foot foot in dirty bandages
His crutches by his side.

National City California
Down near the waterfront
Seedy neighborhood reminded me of home

And me sitting in that ratty old peterbilt
with the bad brakes and bald tires
While I waited for the light to turn green
We looked into each others eyes
And he pittied me
And I envied him

Man proposes
Fortuana disposes
And the drunk rolled over
And smiled with the scent of
her Channel numbe five.

ST a ratty old peterbilt--wonder it was running or that you could stop in time to not hit the person sitting next to you. I am amazed at what the two of you do together, you and the mouse that is. Gosh hope I'm not coming off all wrong. Trying to be cute and funny, not succeeding am I. Sorry

at any rate so nice to read everyone.

down on my luck
spider bit
my foot in bandages too
it looked like a purple football
a low stage in my life
I had no place to be
except going and coming from someplace else

that bum had better prospects than me
Yeah I could have killed someone with that truck
That was the last trip.
I made it back to texas and parked it.

But I was an outlaw trucker at the time
It was the only ride I could get
I was desperate I never should have taken that job
But with out a truck I was homeless

mousey reminds me of a chess game with someone I admire.

So do you.

So does everyone here.

I feel lucky to be here.

Me and Cecil go back a long way on this internet, about six years I suppose.

Mousey I hardly know at all.

I am glad you found the humor.

Lady Luck is a miserable, hoity-toity old bitch with a sick sense of humor and I loved deliciously making her face splat-smash concrete!

'Course if she's good to me I'll be good to her!

It was a fun write. Thanks for reading.

I want one.
Are you talking to me?

You must be mad...absolutely stark raving mad.

If you're talking to me I'm flattered beyond all measure...If you're not...well, er, um, uh, gee, er...

Doreena Doreena what a nice thing to say.

I feel very pleased with myself at this moment...alas, this too shall pass.

Well, girl, if such a thing should ever come in to being I'd send you one free and you know it. I'd have to, it hardly seems fair to make you pay for something no one else in their right mind would! :P

I think I'll call it...

"The Hit and Myth Ology of Comedy as Crutch - Now if only I could hold my end up!"

Thank-you Doreen. :)

Yes, I often sell myself short...very short...but

better to underestimate than overestimate

in my estimation

that way I can dicker myself up

instead of down

I'm such a clown

i agree with doreen, mousey

and besides - it's a total experience to gather up stuff, select some of it, figure out how to print it out in book form and choose a cover.

it puts a little perspective on words
and then, voila! a package of them.

why not?
and i want to see it when it's done.

(don't take the above as pressure.....merely wishful thinking)

I feel as though I have just slipped on a banana peel

and landed in a vat of whipped cream

and anyone who knows me knows I love cream

you are all so sweet and slurpy

Well, if I ever get the courage of mind over matter
I shall pen my unquenchable spirit onto the page
in smatterings of illegible patterings

Thank-you so much for the encouragement...it's very encouraging. :D
