Of days lived

I do rather well in my empty offerings
to the God of delight
He accepts the impertinence gladly
for it is the right of my passage
into hell
there are
no stepping stones
no stairs and ladders
just a slow sink
in to a murky haze
of days lived

Cornerstone sits the dunce
hat in hand
smoking a Sweet Caporal
puffing on his next joke
he wasn't always considered a fool
he had to work at it

Betsy Peer
the boys all like her
the smiles and giggles
well timed
like a Jellystone geiser
set to awe

The classroom clown bowed down
on one knee
to whisper please
to little Betsy

the class crowed and laughed

You are what you appear to be

I do rather well in the empty hallways
dusting up after the in crowd
has exited the building
I sweep up the mirth
the frivolous nature of the beasts
and thank lucky stars
I am mortified by only me

Squeezing pleasure and every
drop of plenty
from my little dime bag of regret
I carry on sublime
in the thought of the moment

It can't get much better than worse

of course I'm wrong

I snap my purse shut
light up another Caporal

and get on with it

Great stuff!

I just read it aloud.

Had an audience, too.

He loved it! ;)

You are what you appear to be

I appear to be invisible

At least that is what I pose at

You been batting a thousand today madame mouse.
