beyond the light

Post by e_dog » May 12th, 2006, 8:25 pm

too late to understand
early for death
too tired for effort
wired for rest

i put the question
to you
to answer as best
as you can

beyond the daylight
is the darkness
and behind that
an even darker light

the meaning of a dream
you've been
having since childhood
only becomes apparent now

everyone is gone
except for the animals in the attic
and they are starting to fight
one another fiercely

the sound accelerates
and then subdues
inaudible screams ringing
in your mind's ears:

hell is
what happens to paradise
over
time.

night
vomit forth a boundless gloom"

I been keeing a copy of Greek Lyric Poetry out in the outhouse with the spiders.

I wanted a garden
and I set aside land to till
until
I could retire and devote
the time to
Eden out the untilled land.

Too young to retire
I watched it season in and out
flavors
herbs to spice the space with life
and somehow
even out the until land.

Dead before retired;
Hell's what happened to paradise.
Over—
time wove roots beneath and day
drew up weeds.
