Recall

Post by abstroint » July 9th, 2006, 3:34 pm

Spontaneous combustion burns rapidly
Exhausted in putrid fumes
In the freest of moments
I burn slow
Warm enough to stave off an ice age and
Bright enough to illuminate the way but
Not enough you’ll need UV protection
I want more freedom than raging flames can consume
I want more freedom than silent tundra’s can hold
A space to rest away from chaos
A space not quite a void
I want the freedom to visit both places without the threat of
Hostile revolt when I come home
I’ll want comfort from the blistering of extremes
An outdoor hot tub in a blizzard
A small fire
A good book and
Therapeutic candles
Not a rushed explosion of passion
Spontaneous non-combustible moments
I’ll be able smile about when they are spontaneously recalled

I was looking for something to quote, but the whole piece spoke to me. Well written.

I want my chains
to rust
b4 they break

I want
yr defection
to make sense

I want my glass
to read at least
half full b4 it spills

I want yr smile
to be the last thing
that I see

when my eyes close
& I begin to dream

if i must deal with extremes
i wish them to be balanced, not out, but on the level
real extreme pleasure

If I deal
make no
mistake
I mean
to play

win or lose
everything
I have
will soon
be yours

or so I'm told

If I could begin
I could finish

look into my mind
& perish my thoughts

where I'm lost
I'm found

useless map
in hand

a gauranteed
risk

slips
between

my teeth
& your neck

How many of us really hear each other? How many pretend? How many prefer the sound of our own voice? How many put word before substance? How many mistake words FOR substance? How many...oh, never mind. I suppose it doesn't really matter ultimately anyway. Ready, aim, fire! Oh communication, wherefore art thou? Fled behind the facade of facetious fallacy and flippancy. Sigh. Smigh. Smile. If the truth hurts dress in something more to your liking. Me...I'm just passing through and avoid popularity contests. But then the cup never could contain the ocean. Ears will hear, jeers, only leer.

None of us ever gets anything we don't either need or deserve. Dry those liquid emotions and move on.
