Not peacefully and unaware
of nonexistence imminent—
when death is mine, let me prepare

before I pass to anywhere.
May they be slow, those angels sent
to sever life; for all I care

when I am spent is still to fare
through time that I may true repent
when death is mine. Let me prepare

and say good-bye; and let me bear
pain’s cross and all the life that went
to sever life fore all I care.

My slower death is everywhere
with farewell joy. And what is there
to sever life for? All I care
when death is mine: let me prepare.

I've always found rhyming to be constaining, for me anyway. This flowed really well.

i was going through a bit of a funk and then took a vacation to britain; a little time with dylan thomas and jane austen and shakespeare made for a nice pick-me-up. i get funky now and then, but i don't plan to leave.

this is an attempt at villanelle; the repetition and rhyme frustrates me, but oh well. rhyme i can suffer...but i can't handle sudoku. thanks for the welcome home!

I enjoy a good Villanelle, and this is most definitely a good Villanelle....I recognise the format and the talent behind it... but i'm a dumb-ass in writing one
