Brahms, Merlot and I

Post by lenny » August 20th, 2006, 11:13 pm

Hues of burgundy emanate
from half filled glass
to soften life's black and white.

Merlot and Brahms, flowing
in harmony, plot alternate course
through eve's looming tedium.

Daylight drains in unison
with dwindling glass, to release
all impounded anxiety.

Unplugged phone lines,
defanged and venomless,
cease their ominous slink,
lie limp in the corner.

TV's blank screen radiates
precious nothing,
oft' blaring Zenith
now pitched to the quietude.

Locked doors and drawn shades
join the collusion, restraining
would be intruders 'til morning.

Nocturnal solitude embraces, heals
all crass diurnal affronts
whlie Brahms, Merlot and I
gently mock the day.

None of us ever gets anything we don't either need or deserve. Dry those liquid emotions and move on.

Thanks, Arcadia. This is also an old one from a good while back. My muse is on strike lately so I post an old one or two here and there. Thank you for reading.

enjoyed this quite a bit, lenny-- a "sacred space", of sorts. i like the detached observation of things in that space.

"daylight drains in unison with dwindling glass.... "

flows like merlot.

Thank you for the read, mnaz, and taking the time to reply. Replies seem a rare commodity around here compared to reads. Smile.

Be well,

as vacation turns to school return, time is a rare commodity
ah brahms,
ah beethoven,
ah sweet silence

how soon the minutes endless turn to seconds stolen
an unlocked door brings a welcome entrance
a trade - sweet smiles for pensive introspection

a time and a place for all

thanks lenny for penning this lush solitude, whenever written, its significance is always welcome
