Precisely as you manifest disdain

Precisely as you manifest disdain
in perfect perseverant ignorance
of admirations I bestow, you claim
my highest, sigh-filled, pure affection. You
as You so perfectly embody love
as love I’d have—and love without control
at slight demand: respect I love the more.
May such emotive freedom full restore
in me some happiness of inward soul
as happy love I you; let notions of
your liberty cast independence true
my scaffold case. I inward yearn the same—
you can’t but love me; honest temperance
vows ever will of heart with me remain.

A sonnet. Not sure which style. It's not Shakespearean. It's one of the other ones. *smile* Spenserian? I can't remember the names of the other styles. Are you any relation to Wordsworth? He was a sonnet master. Your words are sure worth a lot to me. ;) Thanks, Joel. Again, I hope you contribute to the book we're putting together.

thanks, doreen, for your kind words. it's no special kind of sonnet of which i'm aware...just a kind of lounging around in comfortable sweat clothes. really, my thanks to you all here for the chance to think 'out loud' in community. that's good writing.
