The who you are has never been my care

Post by joel » October 17th, 2006, 11:14 pm

The who you are has never been my care
in any sense of personality
since constancy has never proved a mark
reliable for love. Don’t take offence
at cynicism mine— but celebrate
the higher value faithfulness receives
when life and all its changes, chances still
allows for love to never change. Until
I love you past yourself, my heart deceives
itself to think it’s ever loved; so great
is love. And yet I come to your defense—
my love is not for abstract light, but dark
and secret corners. What is love to be
but true through movement, still through moves aware?
