I 'Help me, Lord' and 'Hallelujah' pray

I Help me, Lord and Hallelujah pray
and wait for happiness— if selfishly,
yet nonetheless in honesty. I’m worn
and weary drained; and nothing in me claims
a right to joy— but if I didn’t hope
in fullness more than I deserve, then what
am I but now completed? Help me, Lord
and Hallelujah. I cannot afford
an existentialism based on what
I am: both extroverted misanthrope
and introverted friend. If adam names
the universe, then father please adorn
me named with something real and joyfully
expressive; form me into something gay.
