shit.
i swear allegiance to them all,
and to the republic for which they once stood.

shit.
i'm only trying to get out of the way,
and what kind of commentary is that?

shit.
I could swear to a thousand 8AM allegiances
if I hadn't missed them all by five minutes,
somewhere near the dock.

and that seems to be the way.

True, that.

Prolly should just simplify this one...

which holy book?

shit.
i swear allegiance to them all,
and to the republics for which they stand.

shit.
i'm only trying to get out of the way now,
as my God-of-love dukes it out with yours.

Except for Ecclesiastes and Proverbs I have hardly read anything in any Holy book. So I don’t know. I am just in it for the poetry

Gods are made in our image, I do believe from the bottom of my heretical faith.

I have read the Epic of Gilgamesh does that count?

Is the Tibetan Book of The Dead a holy book? I think I could use some of that.

I swear allegiance to ...

I don't know anymore

Maybe just to what is

Life and death and the time in between

Thanks for writing mnaz.
You got a way with words that makes me envious.

the holy book to which i would pledge allegience
says i can't (not i may not, but i cannot) pledge allegience to it

if God makes humanity in God's own image,
is it really heresy to see God in the image of humanity?

maybe all my gods-of-good-feelings are dead.
if we can have problematic personalities,
wouldn't the Divine Almighty be able to handle a real person-ality too?

I will stick with my heretical faith, I know what is at stake.

Speaking of Latin

" Beware the man of one book" Tacitus?

Here is my book to beware of.

THE FAITH OF A HERETIC
Walter Kaufmann
Kaufmann traces religious ideas through their development in the Hebrew Bible, New Testament and subsequent philosophical discourse. This analysis results in a study of religion that avoids the reductionist condemnations of faith so common among today's "free thinkers," and the simplistic diagnoses offered by writers in the "science and religion" movement. If you want to start thinking seriously about religion, this is the place to start.

Mr. Campbell also made enemies among religious leaders. In spite of his Catholic upbringing, he saw the church -- and indeed all Western religions -- as hopelessly literal in their thinking. He considered the Old testament problematic, in that it portrays a deity who favors one group of people and sanctions violence against their enemies. (That destructive mythology -- the conviction that God is on our side -- is, needless to say, alive and well today across much of the globe.)
