Don't Fear the Lions (a Dream & Shadow Huntsman Group pi

Post by Marksman45 » March 2nd, 2007, 7:13 pm

Hey, say Nay, and roll the fire
Smoke and glass and steel for hire
Drink from the well and run like hell
Keep your teeth clenched on the wire
The Wild Moon is smiling down, she says, I love you son
We're wading through the forest as we're loading up our guns
Steal a ship, sail from here, over the rail, drop like tears
clap hands to kill the cold and try to remember the sun.

The growling ghost stands in the road,
so mind the fog and hold your own
Swear by your eyes and the light of day:
I don't fear the lions, let them carry me away.

The rails are cold and the grade is steep.
The little bird in misery looks for a place to sleep.
He's all alone and chilled in bone,
and he has no tears to weep.
Scream away, dream a road
Remember all the stories you were told
The way is hard, but it isn't far
And it's already too late to fold.

Kill for gold and die for lead
Mud and steam and grass for bread
Choking dust and spitting clay,
We don't fear the lions, let them carry us away

When it's time,
you draw the line
Point out the mountain and I'll
start the climb.
I'll drink to the moon and be back soon,
set my jaw and bite the lime.
If we stall, then we fall, so we crawl through it all
and we'll cope with a hope that we can still hear the call.
Shot for shot, we walk the walk
You talk the talk, I'll stalk the stalk
Secure the balk then ride out tall,
Watch for my signal then charge the walls.

Eyes and dyes and blood all red
Don't give a damn what they said
Hoist that rag, it's done today
We don't fear the lions, let them carry us away.

Who is captain of this clattering train?
Nothing, shadow, mud, decay.
Shout and fill your hands with clay.
Rise to eat and meet the day.
Rusting whale, behemoth machine
They'll tell you you don't really have to believe
The whistle blows a phantom scream
Like a dying, drowning, haunting dream;
We were too close to the fire.
We were lost in the briar.
The tide kept climbing higher.
So we kept our teeth clenched on the wire.

An artillery of roses marked in a tree
A sundered ship in the deep glass sea
The wraith displays what is lost and what is gained
and then at last it is free.
Harken to the owl, it's all true
It's a monster I found in you
and the bird I shot has fallen dead;
my sword and shield I've come to rue.

Fallen hearts stained of coal,
Ash and fire makes them all
I don't know what you want me to say,
but I don't fear the lions, let them carry me away.

The little bird in misery crawls in from the dawn.
His wing is broken and he has no strength to run.
So pour me a drink because we'll all be gone
and I need to forget the things I have done.
The needle and the thread, the bullet and the fawn;
the shadows cast by crosses on the boiling lawn;
So pour me a drink because we'll all be gone
and I need to forget the things I have done.
I washed my hands and cleaned my gun.
I know I'm not the only one.
So pour me a drink because we'll all be gone
and I need to forget the things I have done.
