May god don´t dengue us
say the newspapers
and you
tropical sadness
made of mud
and pools
and grass
not cut in months.
They buried
a lapizlázuli insect today
with all the rituals.

that's great.

I butchered up a beetle,
a sacrifice for the table--
reds and blues that couldn't care
less
about which state they live in,
no matter who wins the elections.
And
when my hands are too bloodied up,
too slippery and/or too sticky,
I'll wipe them down the
dengue--
I have to
keep my dressshirt clean.
