Civics drones once debated the nuts and bolts of freedom,
such as how your freedom should not bulldoze mine.
Now we debate how far the bulldozer must go.

Now, in this eroded mud tide,
in this waking human intellectual equation,
for all of its expanding universe I need a rewrite.
Escapism may be an admission of weakness,
or possibly the way, the truth and the light,
and yet it bears the permanent stink of zen,
like Jesus bore the permanent stink of redemption,
and freedom is still too young to know what hit it,
fascinated by its own speech.
