You're dying

You're dying; and it doesn't break my heart
to realize how little time is left
between us now since timelessness has been
so chief among the story-telling marks
of our relationship—and yet I grieve
already how you'll never glimpse my dreams
elaborate in actuality
and pass themselves in practicality.
With whom am I to celebrate high themes
of all our conversations when you leave?—
of thoughts continued when you're dead? Remarks
of moving on are meaningless—but when
I do move on, will you forgive the theft
of how I mourn you now as you depart?
