i
     am
          bread

emigrants
hungered, thirsting
clad in raiment ragged

dusted for ticks
                   fleas
                          lice

i often wonder
how that must have felt
padding feet first
on Ellis Island

estranged
persecuted

i
    am
         European

though i speak
no foreign tongue
claim fame to any throne
nor am able to produce
a family crest

i
    am
         proud

to be a mutt

chained in my yard
devoid of grass
barking incessant
upon deafened ears

all i can do
is sit and drool
taking pride
that at least i

am
able

to
speak

Thank You Maire. This is an original photo, click it on.
It is the "Pier of Tiers" in County Cork, Ireland.
Our ancestors stood here to board the Titanic.

although chnaging seats on the titanic is often mentioned as a reference to history and the fact that amidst all of our ancestral losses we are all making the same mistakes
over and over again
i love the photo
war is still going on in various countries
and all i can do is write stories and pray for world peace

sometimes the ideas recieved in lodges
transfer the prayers to a higher level
where spirits can do more for my planet
then perhaps i could alone
perhaps the unity of each of us gathering in protection is enough
or perhaps the grief is paraylising
has just kept us in a a passive state
at any ratethank you for the read
and your generous efforts

Coming ashore, crossing borders—
were you aware how much you missed?
Coming ashore, crossing borders
into news with olds dismissed
like herald pages where some pissed-
off editorial had dissed
coming ashore, crossing borders.
Were you aware? How much you missed.
