So do you love me after all? I don’t

So do you love me after all? I don’t
expect your infinite affections or
devotions—expectations, I believe,
are nothing more than disappointments I
premeditate. I do, however, trust
you love me—even if unconsciously—
and though I know you openly admit
your love committed elsewhere, please remit
me something true: affections graciously
withheld in memory of me that must
inform whichever ways you love now. Why
I care—if this is theory all—I leave
to your imagination. Love is for
a mystery—and answer it I won’t.

Nice work, love it all, but especially those ending lines.

felling something and knowing something are often two different things. Just thoughts. Enjoyed the read.

Thanks Ann--

I think I'm letting go of feeling for a while...not forever, but for a while. Too much going on to sort out which way is up and healthy and otherwise. Knowing would be nice these days. I don't care about what is known--just knowing something.

(I know plenty, but maybe I want to believe it too.)
