from what was otherwise a cursèd death;
and ought the cross of old and rugged pews-
and-pulpits’ high esteem not wheeze a breath
of crooked history and power find
therein? Is that not Cross Theology?
And bleached, but conquered, are not intertwined
the skull and bones of death by Calvary
in faith depicted? Listen, listen— I
