I once met a guy who cut his own cock off. I don't mean that he flew to Thailand and had some nimble fingered surgeon do it under sterile conditions. This guy did it with a razor blade while sitting in a prison cell. It was a pure case of sexual abuse.
On the block they called him NoDick and NumbNuts. I had to take a peek one day in the shower. Sure enough, it was clean as a whistle. I'm sure he had to sit down to pee. It's harder to aim a snub-nose than it is to aim a rifle.
I talked to the guy several times. He was tragically stupid and certifiably crazy. I discerned that the reason he had dismembered himself was because some of the religious nuts in the institution had gotten the poor guy lathered up about the fact that he was in there for some sex crime. If thine eye offend thee, pluck it out, etc. Well, in this case the offending organ was between his legs, so he plucked it out. He did it to himself but he was just a child in his mind and the ones who were really responsible were the bible thumpers who misguided him.
I hadn't thought about NoDick in years until the news broke about the abortion doctor being shot. I watch the news coverage of the event and I see the disclaimers from the anti-abortion organizations saying that they don't endorse this violence. This is at the same time when their websites display Wanted posters for individual abortion doctors and rhetorically suggest that violence against these people is somehow just or even smiled upon by god. Then they act surprised when some nut-case drops off the edge and does the rash act. Reference the Oklahoma City Bombing which was also a crime instigated by twisted ideology.
The 9/11 attackers weren't just bunch of meanies. They weren't in the game for profit or greed. They were people who were driven by an ideology. If someone can be convinced to cut his own dick off based on bent ideas, why not fly an airplane into a building? Allah will love you for it.
Ideas are more powerful than weapons any day. The idea will easily find a weapon, be it a knife, a gun, a boxknife a vail of anthrax or an atom bomb. Ideas or beliefs cause actions. For this reason it's pretty important what the ideas are. There are ideas based on truth and facts and there are ideas based on misconstruction and delusion and myth.
The Poet's Eye squints in alarm when someone's ideology is predicated on the assumption that they know what god wants them to do.
But now we got weapons
Of the chemical dust
If fire them we're forced to
Then fire them we must
One push of the button
And a shot the world wide
And you never ask questions
When God's on your side.--Dylan

- God wants me to be Good
that is ta do no harm
shoot no shot
slap no crap
unless I gots to
God wants me to err on the side of Good
I am an arrow pointing onward thru th fawg
toward th mountaintop even tho I travel th low roads,
don't matter, my rod an my staff strengthen me
an I ask fer halp in th face of adversity
thazz what God the Good wants me ta doo,
duh
Duh, moron this now, ahem,
like, th Good Doc shoulda been armed, man, like, it can't happen here, eh?
An besides, in terms of some kind of ideology war is always waged.
I don't think it is possible to wage war without some kind of ideologic justification, like the neo-con artists and their war profits, unner the disguise of extending democracy into the war zone.
Eh?

You know, I couldn't agree more. And from what I know of God, he does, too.
Here's my own personal opinion...Anyone who does anything harmful in the name of God, Allah, whatever...They're liars. And God knows this.
Matthew 6:5-6 (New International Version)
"And when you pray, do not be like the hypocrites, for they love to pray standing in the synagogues and on the street corners to be seen by men. I tell you the truth, they have received their reward in full. 6But when you pray, go into your room, close the door and pray to your Father, who is unseen. Then your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you."
The only Bible verse I ever bothered to memorize. Emphasis on this part..."I tell you the truth, they have received their reward in full."
Which means, what they have now is all they're ever gonna get.
Peace,
Barry

He does? I guess that is why they call it HIStory. (smiley here and a winky/blinky too)And from what I know of God, he does, too

But if He helps you make it through the night
that is cool with me.
This song helped me make it through one lonely morning after the death of my mother.
Clay calls you friend. I try to come at you as one. Friendship and my family is all the Religion got.

If that's the truth, truck, why say this:Clay calls you friend. I try to come at you as one.
And why would you think I want you to have truck with my god, as you put it?Let me put it this way Barry
I don't want no truck with your god
Nobody's cramming nothing down your throat, so why act like they are?
That's wonderful. So what's the problem, bro?Friendship and my family is all the Religion got.
Peace,
Barry

Gotdam words are a mutherfucker
We used to say sticks and stones but words will never hurt me
But words can cut like a knife.
My father was a master of the Obsidian word
Took me years to mourn for him.
You never know when you write a poem what which word will trip somebody's trigger.
I have read that the gratitude is the purest prayer there is. I agree.
I will never read Spinoza, it is too late for that. But I wonder what Einstein meant when he said he believed in Spinoza's God.
