Sunday Stream (169) ~ Finamoroa and the Power of Zero

Finamoroa and the Power of Zero
My mate, SooZen, once said that I was too abstract....that when I talk of some things she has no choice but to tune out - "I don't know what you're talking about." I smiled and answered: "finamoroa..." I had no immediate idea of what that meant. It took a while to sink in. Suddenly it occurred to me that the spontaneity of it was a means to describe the impact of the comment - an abstract word that had no definable meaning...but has a sound... a unique sound. Later my definition came into being -

finamaroa - (noun) [fee-nah-moh-row-ah]: abstraction. ignorant of the present. no connection with the present logic.

Sounds are wonderful things. I've concocted many of my own words that are names of my images, i.e, 'probassio,' 'quadrascape,' 'tresometry,' 'yahoma,' and one of my particular favorites, 'ontaunibus' are some examples I've coined to use as "image names." But obviously there are thousands of good sounds amongst us... pet names we call our loved ones, familial names that have certain importance to our lives, names of movies or books that are strong enough to burn into our memory for all time, for good or bad. The names of foods that cause our taste buds to salivate, the names of religions or philosophies that have defined cultures and times... the list is as long as our imagination is inspired.

Sounds as seemingly simple as 'zero' : a good sound, strong, to the point, definitive. This one four-letter word has an enormous impact upon our humanity... arguably one of the strongest ten words there is. Zero is necessary for power. The more zeroes following a 1 thru 9, the more power there is, although the symbol of zero is 'naught'... without any substance. Yet that same zero multiplied is significant for measuring power.
one hundred - (2)zeroes
one thousand - (3 zeroes)
one million - (6 zeroes)
one billion - (9 zeroes)
one trillion - (12 zeroes)
The power of the Zero. Not only a sound but at once a no thing while at the same time - every thing. Zero necessitates one of nine numbers: 1 thru 9. Without any one or more of these numbers preceding it, zero lies fallow in tomorrow’s imagination awaiting the call to come forward and make powerful all other numbers.

It's the number system that foils our very humanity. We are not totally based upon any number system. Sure. we use numbers for our bills, our earnings to pay those bills, to measure our social worth (even our personal worth for some), but we also are in tune to our emotions, and our emotions are beyond the logic of numbers. We purchase necessities for our loved ones, our children...we don't concentrate on the numbers to attain those goals, we just simply see the necessity of reaching those goals for they will benefit those we nourish on all levels.

We do not think directly in numbers when we are composing, say, a musical piece or do anything but paint when we are creating pictures. We do not think in numbers when we are writing our poems, our stories, our inner feelings. Numbers take a back seat. We are the number and the zero, and together we add our worth, our value, our years and our experiences. We calculate and we mediate...our minds at work to benefit our being amongst the society of life.

Know that this is only half of you. The mental half...the mind at it's best and within it's joy our lives become happy...our bliss becomes realized...we are no longer within the mind, slipped away. We become the zero. We stand alone and at one with everything...for no thing is possible without our zero. The one that achieves zero holds all possibility within their hands.
_________ 0 _________
zero

alpha and omega
the beginning and the end
rounding out our existence
thru our own calculations

how foolish
to think that we are
only the sum
of our past
disregarding
the potentiality
of our future
and the wonder
of our now.

as our zeroes multiply
with each succeeding life
our emptiness increases
to swallow the infinite
no thing

(zero)
_________ 0 _________

Zero is the reset,
like resting on a vast, empty dry lake playa.
There's nothing there, only a field of white space...

You're right. Some words just sound good, strong, elemental. One word I've never much cared for is the word "word" itself... a bit unflattering in its sound, it always struck me.

Good one, Cecilio.

thanks, janet, 'V'... mnaz. as always, good hearing from you.

a little snippet on the st fiacra statue: he was purchased several years ago and when we had brought it home. it went on a fence post that was part of a cedar fence i had put up maybe a year before. about a year later phar lepht had an incredibly strong wind that knocked the fence down including taking with it all the fence posts... except one : st fiacra's post. it has hung there to this day.

yeah, nazzer... i agree. the word 'word' has a flavorless sound that doesn't do much for my ears either. spanish has an interesting word for 'word'... pa-la-bra. that sound just rolls off the tongue when spoken.

gracias!

;)

cecil, my version of finamoroa is 'whatever'...sure, it sounds silly & rebel-ish (not to mention childish, yes?), bUT, it sure packs a power punch, breaking all logic and ending any argument and it's 100% ignorant...a zErO pOWeR pUncH, trust me

ps. LOVE the garden saint...it makes sense that he has no church...the universal garden is his church

howdy, smileGRL! i wrote a pretty simple poem i called 'whatever' awhile ago -

cowboy boots
worn levis torn
(the original denim)

(whatever)

winds blowing
hear the speed
(counting chaos)

(whatever)

quiet, dammit
silence is waiting
(hear it good)

(whatever)

... yes, a one word sentiment, not unlike the all powerful word 'fuck' that has differing uses depending upon the situation.

st fiacra thanks you. he's very easy... he thanks everyone, including the various birds that visit our yard... they've never shit on him!

cecil, every verse has a different feel and context for me. i love simple. and yes, "fuck that!" is the next best zero punch.

ps. about the birds and the (clean) saint  if you were a bird, would you?
