Sunday Stream (194) ~ Truth : Dos Denouement

Truth : Dos Denouement
Truth. That one word has become almost a religion in itself. Is there not a religion, or even a science or philosophy, indeed any practice of man's that does not have truth as the stabilizer... the focal point around which all we do is generally based.

What good would any religion do for it's followers if truth was not the driving force behind the message? Would any of our sciences have any reliability if truth was not the primary start of the search for answers? How about our philosophies? If they were not initiated by an underlying idea of truth then the philosophical end will arrive sooner than expected, like taking a road that was never a road to begin with.

There is something innate within us that knows when something is true and when something is not true - right or wrong. But this sense that we have towards what is right and what is wrong is not always listened to or even heeded. We have placed so much of our value system upon mind that it's not uncommon for our instinct to be disregarded in lieu of the direction mind is taking us. We have come to believe Mind is the ultimate truth when in fact, mind should never lead us but only aid us. Mind questions. Mind doubts. Mind asks. Mind does not know. That's how we learn, using mind to find the answers. But mind is never the answer itself. Mind is a tool we use, not a tool to use us.

Truth is not one color standing out amongst the millions of colors that we know of. Truth is not one sound amongst all the sounds we have ever heard or even will hear. Truth is not one shape standing alone surrounded by the many shapes that nature has given us or even all the shapes we have made.

Truth is, Truth is not something that is a commodity that we can pick up at the drive-thru window of our local corner store. Truth is not assured at our places of worship. Truth is not any of the philosophical theories written by neither people of ages passed or written of by our current day thinkers.

It's actually ludicrous to ask people to tell the truth about some thing or somebody. What we're really looking for there is more of the facts rather than the truth.

True, truth has become more of that which we have seen or heard around us rather than the absolute which it is. When we say something is true would suggest it is undeniable, without question. That has become the final in truth seeking - unquestionable, without doubt, the finality of the search.

But search is a problematic word. It implies that we are looking elsewhere for that which is right here, inside us, outside us and around us. Truth is not 'over there' waiting to be discovered, Truth is an experience and to experience truth is something most, if not all, of us have had flashes of in our lives - those moments of instant realizations that awaken us to "Yeah! That's right! Sure! Absolutely!!" All doubts or questions dissolved, dissipated into the ethers. These moments of realization are usually about little things in our lives, things or moments that have imprinted us with the undeniable... facts that we can go to our graves happily assured this or that is true.

True. Those rare moments of realization that have so much meaning for us... they are true. They are moments of now that are as true as life itself. When we know something is true, when our inner-instinct, that voice within accepts the experience from realization, we have taken another step towards Truth.

One Truth
all there is and beyond,
within and without,
all things and no-thing
in passionate embrace,
the children of this unity,
encompassing all life
both apart and inclusive
of the Absolute...
the Ultimate Truth
sets us free

The problem with the truth as being a basis for anything dogmatic is that the purveyors of that dogma see their version of the truth as being absolute and have a solid nature.

yessir, artguy... that's the problem with language. it just isn't comprehensive enough to grasp the entirety of truth's meaning. that's when silence becomes golden... when words simply aren't enough... meditationmeditationmeditation.

thanks, kurt.
