No Stream Sunday... again...

It's been awhile since I've posted a Sunday Stream. Soo and I have been pretty busy doing things and stuff since the season for shows began a few weeks back. For the first time we are doing a Sunday show that has been compounded into another show at a damn fine bar/restaurant that one day I may feel impelled to write a bit about our little good fortune running into one of three sisters who run La Union Station. This particular venue gave me one of their special dining rooms to put up anything I wanted to put up on the walls.

This past Thursday with the wonderful assistance, (which I could not do without), SooZen helped me get 14 pieces hung. It's been awhile since I've done my own hang for a show and for four hours we both worked our asses off getting the chosen pieces placed 'just right' throughout the good sized room (and one pen & ink up in the bathroom, just to top it off!).

Here I am taking out some old hangers to put up 'Reflection'...

... and me, winding down with a hang for (4) pieces, a challenge in composition which turned out great...

This restaurant is an old adobe building with a lot of character. I learned today (Sat), from one of the sisters that this particular room was the same room where the last of the people who actually called this place home (versus a bar or grill) had died... an elderly lady. Soo and I smudged the room with a sage bundle (Artemisia, which is an authentically wrapped smudge bundle using (4) cotton threads (four colors to honor the four directions--red for the east, yellow for the south, black for the west, and white for the north). This was done today when Soo and I returned so Soo could finish decorating very old cabinet -

This old man's bedtime now... I might get in 5 hrs of sleep before the alarm goes off for getting my ass in gear for another day.

Enjoy!

Thank you, for the free art show, Cecil! Very nice, indeed!

Are they all yours? The style in these pictures show a great deal of range, from very simple to astonishingly complex. I'd be very interested in hearing your artistic background and vision. I saw a movie about a driven young painter and his mentor (both representational artists) just last week, 'Local Color.' Have you seen it?

First good look I've had of the skilled artist himself. Cripes, you even look like an idealized graphic artist. Me too, only I've been told, on too many occasions, that I look more the con artist.

"All day long I add up columns of figures and make everything balance. I come home. I sit down. I look at a Kandinsky and its wonderful! It doesn't mean a damn thing!" (Solomon Guggenheim)

Thank you much, Kurt. It was good to once again participate in a public showing after much time has passed... other than on a smaller venue as Soo and I do with tent shows.

... and my thanks to you, NS, for your comment. Indeed, these are all my own pieces, none very current. I may be getting my cataract removed in July which may give me a new lease on art. I still have inspirations nearly daily as to paintings that I 'see' within. If it wasn't for doing jewelry designs the passed few years, no telling what I'd be up to. :) btw: I have not seen the movie 'Local Color', but it sounds like a movie I'd enjoy. Thx for the heads up!

Thank you kindly, Steve. I'd like for you to see it. ;)

... y gracias, Arcadia, amiga mia! That 6th foto I'm currently calling 'the Billboard'. Glad you like it.
