Sunday Stream (S8-291) - The Great Digital Divide

Post by mtmynd » June 17th, 2018, 3:46 pm

~The Great Digital Divide ~

"The Great Digital Divide" separates us all far more easily than the days of newspapers and magazines. Each of those mediums were offered to the public and what they represented. FB and any other medium on the 'net makes it far too easy to dis' the opposition... the immediacy is so instant, what is put up is available in a second worldwide, hardly enough time to understand it all.

It may only get worst until we learn how to harness this digital power that has changed humanity worldwide. And so the 21C, still in its infancy, continues to evolve leaving behind causalities of the preceding 20th century that shaped a far different world from the age before it. What once was a given, “truths” to live by are being shaken by “the NEW” rather than by the Now.

Our 'Now” is consumed by our tomorrows that always lies ahead of us (and always has). We know no further than that next moment, so quickly out technological world darts thru time itself, that mere seconds throttle in high speed through this curious 21st C that we only think is in our hands, molding our future that even the wisest can only theorize where we are heading.

Afterall our mindsets are still dependent upon that 20th C which now seems so long ago (18 years?). Sure, there are those who are from this 21st but they were taught and learn from that last century's beliefs and ideals. Adjusting to anything new, society never responds on that “drop of a hat' without first digesting it all, seeing how beneficial it is before even a slightest commitment is even suggested.
This could take us 15-30 years before we begin to envision that future that “we” have to adapt to.

But those Centurions of the 21st C - it is they who will have been molded and ready to take over in various leadership positions , to take the wheel of humanities ship (space ship) and create the world they themselves envisioned in their times of dreaming, learning, of experimenting thru their own mistakes and failures which will escort them into their time, as we, many of us, from the 'baby boomer” generation have done.

Many thanks, amigo, for reading and replying to this Stream.

I believe it was Gandhi that said: "There's more to Life than speed".
I believe that more and more as the day's seem to pass faster and faster. Is it age or is it fact that speed is over-rated?

All I see around me when I'm out driving around is impatience. The inability for the masses to slow down and enjoy life rather than flying down the freeways and byways to .... where? Are all these folks late for a raise? have to take a shit or piss? going to the hospital to visit someone?

Maybe they're trying to get the hell out of town... or racing to see who comes first...?

It's all asinine in my eyes. We're all on the planet for a limited amount of time so why rush it? why not slow down, relax and enjoy the simpler things in our lives? It sure is good for our health. Get off "fast foods" that are generally crap on a styrofoam plate that will shorten lives and clog up the hospitals.

Sorry to drag this onto the post. Ignore the rantings of a madman...

no need for apology, you have the soul of a long haul gypsy trucker, you are not mad,
we are both semi-loco

I love this Gary Snyder poem

the irony is truly genius
Why Log Truck Drivers Rise Earlier
Than Students of Zen

In the high seat,
before-dawn dark,

Polished hubs gleam
And the shiny diesel stack
Warms and flutters
Up the Tyler Road grade
To the logging on Poorman
Creek.
Thirty miles of dust.

There is no other life.

it is the sound of the big diesel, it permeates consciousness with a sacred syllable
OM
Cool on your stool
18 wheels rolling free out my own center
zen and the art of driving

not the same for a gasoline engine unless it has a pimped out exhaust system
"If you ain't a trucker you aint shite"

must be true
I read it on a bumper-sticker at Dr. Doom's Truck Stop :)

And it just keeps on dividing us. More and more. What a tremendous disappointment this Digital Revolution / Breakthrough is devolving into.
