Santiago Kovadloff, an author I knew from his stories for children and that I´ve been reading this week, wrote in one of his essays about the difference between esperanza and ilusión: " Es que la estirpe y el espesor de la esperanza provienen del deseo y éste no se nutre jamás en circunstancias favorables ni en la certeza de que alguna vez las habrá. He wrote 14 pages developìng that, and they are worth reading!!!.
In my personal vocabulary esperanza is a bit devaluated word. We tend to use "esperanza" for concrete-precise-only-one-sided-possibility things. I use more "faith" now, maybe a more vague, paradoxic and wide-range-alcance word, but also powerful and nearer to what I feel.

Thanks for the stream, Cecil!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
(I love when you play with the color and the size of the fonts!!!!)

Thx, wired one, for adding to the (short) list. you're in good company.

ah, Arcadia! are you sure Santiago is not taking the simplicity of hope to the realms of illusion with his essay..? my 'babel fish' translator speaks in strange tongues!
