the modern era is over
it was as transient as rococo so
by claiming post-modernity, into
an unlimited opening
where transience and flux is the norm
which is an essential truth as old as the hills

all isims should be wasms

i got a book by suzi gablik
is post modernism dead
waiting for me
and my meditation

futurism came before modernism
the blue riders died in the great war
the only movements left
are indigenous manifestos
comandante x writing erotic poems

Any body that makes the wombman folks happy is a friend of mine.

Only one movement that still matters to me is feminizism. I remember get deleted or barred from litkicks because of something I said about male feminism being bullshit feminism. I sppose I should say that brother and sisterhood is all that matters to me. THe only revolution I can get behind.

I do not think Ghandi and Martin Luther King needed violence to start their movement.

I think e-dog is on to something but then perezoso will come in and they will get into an intellectual pissing contest, and then perezoso will piss all over my leg and want lick my mother's anus and then I will start to yawn,

is that what post modernism is,
sounds pretty prickriarchical to me.

philosophy for dummies

Philosophy for Dummies

by Tom Morris
(384 pages)

List price: $19.99, paperback.

Philosophy at its best is an activity more than a body of knowledge. In an ancient sense, done right, it is a healing art. It's intellectual self-defense. It's a form of therapy. But it's also much more. Philosophy is map-making for the soul, cartography for the human journey. It's an important navigational tool for life that too many modern people try to do without.

Philosophy For Dummies is for anyone who has ever entertained a question about life and this world. In a conversational tone, the book's author -- a modern-day scholar and lecturer -- brings the greatest wisdom of the past into the challenges that we face now. This refreshingly different guide explains philosophical fundamentals and explores some of the strangest and deepest questions ever posed to human beings.

edog wonders why anyone would want to call themself a philohsophic dummy
but he kind of looks like the egghaid on the cover

I don't mean to mock e-dog jimboloco,

our culture is pretty warped right now, you know the culture wars and all that...(Totalitarian Democracy, Ferhlingetti I got to read that again)
Poets see it maybe better than anyone, that was freud's lament, wherever he went a poet had been there first he said.

check this out.

Do you remember marksman45? He used to talk about enculturation?

He used to go by foolish_pater on litkicks. I thought the guy was around sixty, turns out he is barely twenty. wise young one. I remember he was on a thread with e-dog zlatko and perezoso I think, that is the last time I remember reading him hear.

I wish he would come back

Born into this bukowski poem pretty good to I thought, the only poem I have read, well actually the only poem I have listened to of his.

born into this extro biological womb called culture.

Starts from the moment we see and hear,

biological evolution is a so slow
cultural evolution so fast one generation is always out of touch it seems.

language evolves too I guess

But that is what blew my mind when I read Tacitus for the first time, he sounded so modern, could be coming off the days issue of a good newspaper.

But that maybe be just the translators art

I wish the hell I could read latin, greek, german, yiddish, hebrew, japanese,

my vanity bigger than my intellect.

well maybe if we keep high jacking his thread
e-dog will talk to us eventually

late for work
talk at you later.

fools rush in where angels fear to tread

at modernity

Links for the Sokal Hoax Controversy
I have brought this up many times jimbo
nobody here wants to talk about it.

In 1996, physicist Alan Sokal of NYU published an article entitled "Transgressing the Boundaries" in the journal Social Text, edited by leading cultural theorist Stanley Fish: ". . . to test the prevailing intellectual standards, I decided to try a modest (though admittedly uncontrolled) experiment: Would a leading North American journal of cultural studies whose editorial collective includes such luminaries as Fredric Jameson and Andrew Ross publish an article liberally salted with nonsense if (a) it sounded good and (b) it flattered the editors' ideological preconceptions?" The resulting furor in academia highlighted the rift between the attitudes of natural scientists and cultural theorists.

Sokal mutha-f-n rules, dawg. As does his pal Bricmont (read some Bricmont to find out how little ye know about determinism, the philosophy of science, if not Reality as a whole). And Sokal was/is no rightist. Jacques Derriere was a vichy fraud. ( I have, however, read a bit of Baudrillard on Simulation with interest--but his jargon-spouting is not nearly as severe as JD's). The S-B parody seemed fairly appropriate and even tame---and many postmods fell for it.
