Here is an assortment of rejection slips that I have received in the past week.
I think that the main reason most people don't make it as writers is that they can't stand rejection.

Thanks for your query, but right now we're not taking on new clients due to
a very high current work load. Good luck with your book!

Dear Author:
This is such a busy time that I have to pass on the opportunity to read
your work. Thank you for your interest in Arcadia, and I wish you the best
of luck.
Apologies for not being able to answer more personally; given the volume of
queries, it is simply not possible.
Yours,
Victoria Pryor

Sorry, do not handle nonfiction.

Thanks so much for your query.? Unfortunately, though, I don't believe I'd be the
right agent for your work.
I wish you much success.
Sincerely,
Laura Langlie

Thanks very much for this query, but I'm afraid I am taking on so few new clients
right now that I'll have to step aside on representing this. I wish you the best in
finding a match.

Thank you for your recent query but this does not seem right for me so
I'm going to respectfully pass on looking at more material. Best of
luck.
Yours sincerely,

Dear Mr. January,
Thank you for your query. Dan Lazar asked me to reply after he evaluated
your submission.
We're afraid your project does not seem right for our list, but thank
you for thinking of Dan, and best of luck in your search for
representation.
Sincerely,
Josh Getzler
Assistant to Dan Lazar

Thank you for your recent query. Although your project sounds interesting,
we unfortunately do not feel it is right for us at this time. We encourage
you to query other agencies, and we wish you all the best in finding other
representation. Thank you again for thinking of The Knight Agency.
Best regards,
Elaine Spencer

Dear Mr. January,
Thank you very much for your query. I'm afraid that, although under
other circumstances I might want to take a look at some of your work, I
am swamped with submissions and current commitments at the moment, and
so I’m simply not able to consider your project right now. However, I do
appreciate the opportunity to consider your writing, and wish you
success in finding the right person to represent your literary interests.
Sincerely,
Sam Stoloff

Thanks for your interest in our agency. Unfortunately you've caught me at a
time when the demands of my current clients leaves me with very little time
to devote to developing new talent and unfortunately in this case I have to
pass on the opportunity to pursue this. I'm being extremely, and likely
unreasonably, picky so please seek many opinions since my decision may have
little to do with the salability of your work.
Sincerely,
Rich Henshaw

Thank you for your query. My submission policy is as follows: I will get back to you
within six weeks, but only if interested. Thanks again for your submission and best
of luck with your work.
Best wishes,
Aaron Priest
